Thomas Martin is a Senior Archaeologist at Far Western and has worked as a professional archaeologist for 35 years. He started on Far Western projects in the 1990s and now serves as Field Director on survey and testing efforts for the Bay Area Branch and Guam. He was raised in Sonoma County and received his M.A. in Archaeology from Sonoma State University, Rohnert Park. His primary research interest is the prehistory of the north-central high Sierra. More recently he has taken a lead in historical archaeology research and excavations in Marin, Napa, Lake, and Shasta counties. Thomas is an author and co-author on a variety of CRM compliance projects, developes reasearch designs and testing plans, conducts site evaluations for the National Register and California Register, and provides lithic and historical artifact analyses and input. Currently he is permitted by the Bureau of Land Management in California as a Field Director in both precontact and historical archaeology and regularly conducts fieldwork and reporting for Caltrans, USFS, BLM, PG&E, NPS, State Parks, local county and city municipalities, environmental and construction firms, and nonprofit organizations.
