Martha received her BA degree at CSU Fresno with a degree in Anthropology and Women’s Studies. She then received her M.A. in Anthropology with a focus in bioarcheology and forensic Anthropology from CSU Chico. In 2024, Martha received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley where her area of focus was in bioarcheology. She has conducted field work and research in Israel, Romania, Mexico, and California. Martha has a background in osteology, ethnography, and human rights work.
Martha started working as field technician in 2015 on the Feather River West Levee Project. For the next couple of years, she monitored various sites and aided in skeletal identification efforts. She has also participated in laboratory work, excavations, and surveys. In 2017, Martha worked in the Data Department and in 2024 began work as a senior archaeologist and osteologist, while subsequently being part of the Tribal Coordination team at Far Western. Martha’s main area of focus in cultural resource management as well as in an academic setting includes ethnographic work, osteological analysis, and Tribal Coordination.
In addition to her work at Far Western, Martha also serves as part of the Coalition for Diversity in California Archaeology (CDCA), a committee that serves under the Society for California Archaeology and is also part of the California Archaeology Collaborative (CAC).
