William Hildebrandt Ph.D.
Bill’s archaeological research has focused on hunter-gatherer adaptations in California, Oregon, and the western Great Basin, with particular emphasis given to prehistoric peoples occupying coastal environments. Bill is also a leader in the field of Cultural Resource Management, and has helped many government agencies preserve and manage important archaeological sites under their control. His research is published in a variety of journals, including American Antiquity, Journal of Anthropological Archaeology, and the Journal of California and Great Basin Archaeology, as well as monographs and book chapters published by UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UCLA, University of Utah, and the Nevada State Museum. He is currently working on the evolution of prehistoric hunting patterns in California and the Great Basin, applying modern approaches to human behavioral ecology to this research effort.
