Sharon Waechter M.A.
Sharon has been a professional archaeologist since 1979, working for the USDA Forest Service (Mendocino and Eldorado National Forests); the USDI Bureau of Land Management (Arcata Resource Area, Ukiah District); the Anthropological Studies Center at Sonoma State University; and since 1991 as a field director, principal investigator, and report editor at Far Western. She graduated from the University of California, Davis, with honors. While she has experience in areas throughout California and western Nevada, Sharon’s areas of particular interest and expertise are the history and archaeology of northeastern California (Modoc, Lassen, Plumas, Sierra, Nevada, Placer, El Dorado, Amador, Calaveras, and Tuolumne counties). Sharon has many years’ experience in archaeological survey and excavation, Native American and agency consultation, project sensitivity and impacts assessments, management plans, and public outreach/interpretation. In addition to many technical reports and management plans, she has written educational booklets, brochures, interpretive displays, and web-site articles on history, archaeology, and Native American peoples.
