Deborah Jones M.A.
Debbie completed her degree at the University of California, Davis in 1988 and received a B.A. from Sonoma State University (in Anthropology) in 1981. At Sonoma, she gained extensive experience in Cultural Resource Management, conducting survey and excavation projects for the Anthropology Studies Center and serving as a Curatorial Assistant in the Northwest Information Center. While at U.C. Davis she focused on the theoretical implications of hunter-gather studies in the Monterey Bay region. Employed by Far Western since 1985, Jones resides in San Luis Obispo and is the Director/Senior Archaeologist of the Far Western Central Coast Branch Office covering San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Monterey, and Santa Cruz counties. She is responsible for a myriad of management, field, laboratory, analysis, and report preparation tasks for both survey and excavation projects. Her research and volunteer contributions to the local region include co-authoring a book chapter on the central coast in California Prehistory: Colonization, Culture and Complexity, and serving as Board Member for the San Luis Obispo County Archaeological Society.
